Precoded themes — coming soon to a web browser near you.

We’ve been talking about Precoded for a long time. There are a heck of a lot of WordPress themes out there, but a lot of them are lacking in the visual department. We reckon there’s a real demand for WordPress themes that appeal to folk with an eye for aesthetics, so we made it our mission to help fill that gap with a few well-formed themes of our own.

Unfortunately the real world conspired to get in the way of our aspirations. As we discovered, it takes time to put together a worthwhile commercial WordPress theme and we were forced to put things on hold to keep money coming in to pay the bills, so it has unfortunately taken us a lot longer than we would have hoped.

If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on a theme from Precoded, then thank you for your patience and please accept our sincere apologies that it’s taken so long. Once we’re up and running we’ll be able to dedicate a lot more of our professional time and effort to developing and supporting our themes, making this kind of delay a thing of the past.

So where is Precoded now?

Well, we now have this website that allows us to post updates and keep you informed of what’s happening. We’ve also set up a separate support website with Tender Support that will help us answer your questions and deal with issues you experience with Precoded products.

More importantly, we’ve  finished our first theme, based on popular typography blog,, but improved with extensive customisation options and a drag and drop gallery uploader we guarantee you’ll love. We’ll need to sort out licensing details, but otherwise it’s ready to roll. And our second theme is already most of the way there – this website is based on a stripped back, lightly customised version of the theme, but if you really want to see it in action, check out the website of Precoded friend, Steven Bonner, who has been doing some testing for us.

If you want to know what else we have currently planned for themes and templates, check out the Precoded road map.

Otherwise, we still need to sort out some legal bits and bobs relating to Precoded as a company, getting bank accounts sorted out… you know the sort of thing. Once all the T’s are crossed and the I’s are dotted we’ll be ready to rock and roll.

We’re not sure exactly how long this will take. One lesson we’ve learned so far is that when it comes to this kind of stuff, it always takes longer than you’d like, but we don’t think it’s going to be much longer. And to thank you for your patience and understanding we’ll be running a prize draw to win free Precoded themes – follow the Precoded Twitter feed or sign up to our mailing list to be the first to know.

We’ll also be posting regular updates on this blog, so keep checking back, or add the RSS feed to your news reader to keep up to date.

David & Mike.
